Actions, Alignment, & Attention

“How did it get so late so soon?

It's night before it's afternoon.

December is here before it's June.

My goodness how the time has flewn.

How did it get so late so soon?”

-Dr. Seuss

Your time, energy, & resources are all finite, which means that you need to be deliberate and intentional about how you choose to spend them. But how do you make that decision? What deserves your attention from the infinite list of choices? If you make a habit of choosing wisely, I believe that you will be rewarded with personal and professional fulfillment, personal achievement, and career success. Choose unwisely and you may be left to feel like our friend Dr. Seuss, wondering how it got so late so soon!

Aligning your actions with your values and goals is the answer. When you assess your choices through that lens, the decisions regarding how you should spend your time, energy, and resources become simple. But what are your values and goals, and how do you articulate them? Left undefined, you might spend your days chasing Shiny Objects, but never really getting ahead.

“When (Shiny Object Syndrome) sets in, it forces you to chase project after project, and change after change, never settling with one option.”

-Jayson DeMers

My Mission and Personal Values drive my decisions and actions, and almost daily they are tested by opportunities which sound amazing, but don’t warrant my time, energy, or resources. For example, I would love to play more golf, but if I consider my values when making a decision about how to spend my free time, golf just doesn’t seem that important anymore.

If all of this is true, how do YOU build a system that allows you not only define your goals and values, but also use them to plot a course towards personal and professional fulfillment?

The PGA Career Planning Model is the answer, as it allows me to provide support, guidance, and counsel for those who wish to push forward to realize what they are capable of.

A reminder that this is NOT ONLY for those seeking new opportunities, but rather for anyone who wants to align the work they do to their values, gain new skills, level up in their current role, or simply feel more in control of their future. Through this guided process, I believe you can take another step in the direction of becoming the best possible version of yourself. I also believe that act will lead to career success, personal achievement, and fulfillment both personally and professionally.
